 Band Fees

Monthly Band Fee: Due the 1st of Every Month Payment: Cash or Money Order Only.

Band Fee Schedule:

September 1, 2011- $20 PAST DUE NOW

October 1, 2011- $10 PAST DUE NOW

November 1, 2011- $10 PAST DUE NOW

December 1, 2011- $10 PAST DUE NOW

What do band fees pay for?

Band fees pay for monthly instrument usage, instrument maintenance supplies like reeds, oil, grease, field trip (buses, meal money), prizes, etc.All students are expected to pay these fees. Parents having financial difficulties need to contact Ms. Pohner for arrangements. Students who honestly cannot afford to pay the fees will NOT be dropped from band.

Morning Open Practice/Sectionals 7:45-8:05 am

All advance/honor students are REQUIRED to particpate in after school sectionals for a grade.

Eligibility-Students must pass with a 70 or above in ALL classes to be eligible for any UIL or extracurricular event. Please make an effort to turn in your homework, study for tests, go to tutoring, and ask for help!

Community Service Fridays

Students who choose to chew gum, not throw away trash, and exhibit inappropriate or irresponsible behaviors will be assigned community service  This may involves cleaning instruments, equipment, and The Domain, as well as The school with the custodial staff.

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS WHO MISS COMMUNITY SERVICE WILL HAVE AN ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION HALL.

Student Expectations

All students are expected to participate in class 100% of the time.

All students are expected to follow the classroom procedures at all times.

All advanced students are expected to attend all after school sectionals, rehearsals, and performances for a grade. Beginners are expected to attend all performances for a grade.

Advanced students are expected to take home their instrument to practice on a daily basis. Zeros are earned for advanced students who do not take home the instrument every Friday.

All students are expected to pass all their classes to remain eligible.

J. Frank Dobie Band Directors offer daily in and after school tutoring sessions. Students are expected to participate in both types of tutoring sessions for a grade. These sessions are designed to improve the student's playing ability and to expand their knowledge of music. Please check the schedule to the left for the advanced instrument sectional day.
